The Town Photo has been a First Night Chatham tradition since First Night Chatham 1995 (December 31st, 1994), the third First Night Chatham in Chatham. The first Town Photo was taken at Lighthouse Beach, with the photographer looking down at the people on the beach, some of whom were forming the letters CHATHAM at the front of the crowd. From the next year onward, the Town Photo was taken at the Chatham Lighthouse.
The Town Photo event kicks off First Night Chatham at noon each year on December 31st. Surprisingly, there is snow on the ground in only five of the pictures below.

In recent years, since First Night Chatham 2011, the Town Photo has been photographed in very high resolution, which is used to create a “deep-zoom” picture.
