Blue Skies ~ Irving Berlin: The Man & His Music
A lively program of songs and stories highlighting the music of Irving Berlin, who dominated Broadway and the airwaves during the early 20th century.
Join vocalist John Murelle and pianist Chris Morris for “Blue Skies” Irving Berlin--The Man and His Music. Irving Berlin was an innovator of popular songs during the first part of the 20th century. His hit songs, which everyone whistled and sang, highlighted the hip and chic urban life in New York City. Berlin dominated Broadway and the airwaves during this era. His songs defined the Tin Pan Alley sound and the ideals of America in much of his music.

Singer and historian, John Murelle, has been sharing his knowledge and musical performances with audiences throughout New England for years. His passion and understanding of the men and women who have created and shaped the American art form known as American Musical Theater is both engaging and enlightening. His singing harkens back to the golden age of musical theater when performers filled the space with a rich, vibrant sound.

Tanglewood Marionettes
Tanglewood Marionettes production of The Dragon King, an underwater fantasy based on Chinese folklore.
The Dragon King is ruler of the waters, and the people are beginning to wonder why he has not brought the precious rains in such a very long time. A terrible drought has overtaken the land, and all the world has turned brown and lifeless. An underwater fantasy based on Chinese folklore, The Dragon King tells the tale of a wise Grandmother who journeys to the bottom of the sea to seek the Dragon King, and the answers to why he has forsaken the land above. With colorful sea creatures, an exciting adventure, and all the visual splendor that audiences have come to expect from a Tanglewood Marionettes production, The Dragon King is a heart-warming tale that will thrill young and old alike. The hero of this story is a Grandmother! She goes on a quest and saves the world! We love this aspect of our tale, and hope many grandparents will come to see it.
2024 is the Year of the Dragon!
